Where can I ski with my dog?
Currently, locations for skiing with your dog are very limited. Before bringing your dog, check ahead of time as to whether dogs are permitted on the trails at a particular location. Otherwise your dog might be disappointed staying in the car while you venture out on the ski trails.
In general, dogs are not allowed on groomed trails. Dogs are prohibited on the groomed, dedicated XC ski trails at the Summit Nordic Center, and at the Hyak, Crystal Springs, Cabin Creek and Lake Easton snow parks. The one groomed trail snow park allowing dogs is Salmon La Sac. Dogs are also permitted at the Gold Creek Sno-Park, which is a non-groomed non-motorized snow park.
If you bring your dog to an area that allows dogs, please be respectful of other users, and use a leash as warranted. Also, dog droppings do not decompose in the winter-time snow conditions. So please help maintain clean trails by cleaning up after your dog, and removing and disposing of dog droppings.
You should also be aware that dogs can disturb wildlife such as bears and cougars, so you will want to keep your dog close to you at all times.
The Central Cascades Winter Recreation Council is currently working to expand areas where dogs can be taken for groomed skiing
