march madness

It's been a rough couple of weeks for our snow pack. Low spots are melting out and places where the power folks plowed are somewhat melted - might have to walk in places east of the Stampede Pass road on the John Wayne. Anyway, groomers are pulling in snow where they can grab it to fill in low spots.

The Sno-Park program is scheduled to continue grooming until the end of the month, but with the very warm weather, sections may close. Pay attention to the grooming report postest on KSC webpage:

Crystal Springs to Hyak on the John Wayne / Iron Horse, will only be groomed once on Saturday and just in the morning. Same with the sled hill.

Also, Lake Easton State Park is done for grooming for the season (unless we get a big dump), but is stil open as a Sno-Park.

Big weekend for activities though:

Meany Lodge has their Spring Carnival which is a weekend affair. See thier website here

Ski For Light is sceduled on Saturday at Erling Stordahl. A reminder - the area is groomed with 2 sets of tracks side by side. This is a good time to grab a friend and have a nice social ski - side by side.

The Ozbaldy 50k is Sunday at Cabin Creek - the last of their big races for the season. This will be a busy place. If you are not in the race, maybe try skiing out of Crystal Springs.

next weekend:

Dog Days of Winter on Sunday March 13th out of Crystal Springs. This is a casual social celebrating our working dogs and friends. If you are interested in dog sledding or skijoring, come hang out with us in the back lot. This would be a good time for newbies to learn about equipment. There will be snacks (provided anyone brings some).

See you out there!

Karen
