slush fest time

Slush. Nope, slush does not lead our thoughts to postcard perfect conditions. But -

It can be really nice skiing, just not super set and maybe a smidgen wet. That’s why we have technical clothing now. Grab your Gore-Tex and a change of clothes and head on up.

Saturday at Hyak is the SPECIAL OLYMPICS! It will be busy.

Sunday Snoqualmie Nordic Club is hosting the Jente Loppet race for women and kids.

Come on out if you're tired of being in the rain in Seattle. Bring your friends and pass it on!

Online registration ends TOMORROW NIGHT at midnight...

But, you can also register onsite on Sunday as well, so no worries!

We hope to see you on the snow on Sunday!

Here is the report from Lake Easton State Park this afternoon:

Due to special events (Special Olympics and Jente Loppet) it will only be groomed once in the AM 2/1/2020 and once in the AM on 2/2/2020.

Hyak to Crystal Springs:

Trail groomed today in the AM. Trail is expected to be groomed through 2/3/2020 in the AM hours.

Crystal Dog Sled Trails:

Groomed today in the afternoon. Trails are in excellent condition and all groomed out well with no water problems. Next expected grooming is 2/3/2020 in the AM hours.

Lake Easton:

Trail groomed today in the AM. Next expected grooming is 2/3/2020.

---------------------------------------------------------

As for all the slush, it is what it is. The snow removal contractor is now trying to manage the budget so the Cabin Creek and Crystal Springs Sno-Parks will stay plowed rest of the season. Midweek not all areas are plowed 100%. Plowing slush is sort of like plowing water. Also, same with grooming. With all the soft snow, the machines sink, so not all trails are groomed. With our wet forecast, they may stay off the trails until the water drains.

Our Lake Easton State Park groomer operator traveled to Mount Spokane to help over there due to groomer operator staff shortage. Our crews are busy!

Friday and Saturday Feb. 7th, and 8th the Winter Recreation Advisory Committee meets in Leavenworth for their winter meeting. The business portion is Saturday February 8, 2020 – Chelan County Fire District – 228 Chumstick Hwy, Leavenworth. 8 AM

One last friendly reminder - Please no off leash dogs ever in Crystal Springs Sno-Park or on the trails. Once out of the parking lots does not mean its OK to let them off leash. Thanks.
